Natural Dog Chews

Why Natural dog Chews?

Our adoring friends and companions need to chew something but not your slippers or door mat! I understand their need to chew as I like to chew my food and sweets rather than lick! We know the expression “Give a Dog a Bone” but unless you have access to fresh meat and bones this could be difficult. Even then the bones have to be boiled until the meat is cooked but who wants to do this several times a week?

The modern equivalent of bones are natural dog chews which always go down well with our two German Shepherd Dogs and four terriers (Three are still puppies) The reason they like natural dog chews is because of the smell and then the challenging chewy texture which lasts them for hours. The hard natural dog chews are preferred by our dogs (And us) as the soft chews are soon eaten and forgotten!

What Are Natural DogĀ  Chews Made From?

The base materials for natural dog chews are by-products of meat production which are dried and packed for shipping and storage. They will keep for as long as you feel you can withhold them from your dogs!

  • rawhide-Animal skin, cows, buffalo, deer or elk devoid of all meat, fur & fat.
  • pork hide-Animal skin from pigs
  • jerky-Meat snack rimmed of fat and cut into strips and sun-dried
  • buffalo-Meat protein as in jerky
  • chicken-Freeze dried chicken breast
  • dried liver-freeze dried beef liver
  • antlers-From deer, moose and elk-Naturally shed and dried.
  • dried pigs ears-baked with chicken inside!

You just let your dog choose the best ones by allowing your dog to evaluate which natural dog chews provide a satisfying chew and how long they last!

The Benefits of providing your dogs
with a dog treat that is “Everlasting”

Everlasting Dog treats can provide not only a good chew but could occupy your dog for hours. Of course you can always give a dog a bone but unless you have access to fresh meat and bones daily this could be difficult. Even then the bones have to be boiled until the meat is cooked but who wants to do this several times a week?

Everlasting Dog Treat (Treat as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is “An event or item that is out of the ordinary and gives great pleasure”) everlasting dog treats would surely come under this description?

Dog toys such as the everlasting fire plug ball or a toy that is refillable provides a much greater challenge! Giving them a treat or chew that is hard and long lasting will keep our dogs teeth in good condition and provide the necessary massaging of their gums. Dogs that are occupied with a treat provided for them (Rather than the dogs helping themselves to your favourite slippers) is the most practical solution especially when we are busy away from home (Or just busy with household chores) Besides knowing that your dogs can only chew their dog treat is surely best for them and us!

If your dog or puppy is chewing everything in sight including the furniture and you want to understand why dogs chew before your little pet causes more destruction then read my article entitled “Why Dogs Chew-Stop Dogs Chewing”

Note: Everlasting Dog Treats in the context of being everlasting is a dogs dream but it depends entirely on your dogs ability to rip and tear open containers and devour the contents! So as with any other dog toy, dogs should be supervised when testing their new toys!
